About

Warren Paving was originally founded as an unincorporated proprietorship by Charles Warren, father of Lawrence W. Warren, during the 1950s. On October 1, 1971, Warren Paving was incorporated by Lawrence W. Warren in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. In 1972, the company had 12 employees, with annual production of 20,000 tons of asphalt. In 1986, the company installed a new asphalt plant in Petal, Mississippi, which increased annual production to 60,000 tons. In 1991, the company relocated to a new site, south of Hattiesburg, installing a new state-of-the-art asphalt facility with annual production of 300,000 tons and employing 48 people. In 1998, Warren Paving, Inc. opened an additional facility site in Gulfport, Mississippi, with an annual target of 300,000 tons production. An unloading dock was constructed at the south end of the property for unloading materials that are shipped in by barge via the industrial seaway. In 1999, the company acquired Necaise Construction Company, Inc. in Gulfport, causing employment to rise to over 40 employees in Gulfport and 115 employees company-wide. In 2001, the company added a mobile crushing operation with the capability of crushing recycled asphalt and concrete rubble. In the same period, Warren Paving was instrumental in getting recycled crushed concrete approved for use in MDOT projects. The first MDOT project to use this material was Interstate 10 at the Jordan River Bridge. In 2007, Warren Paving lnc. purchased land on the Cumberland River in Livingston County, Kentucky. This land was developed into Slats Lucas Quarry and supplies limestone aggregate to Warren Paving’s asphalt facilities and third-party customers. By 2009, the Slats Lucas Quarry employed 25 people, and produced and shipped approximately 1.2 million tons of limestone aggregate annually. Today, the company produces over 500,000 tons of asphalt, 2.5 million tons of limestone aggregate, 500,000 tons of rip rap, operates 75 barges and has over 200 employees.
