About
In the early ‘80s Steve Ballard spent his weekends sealcoating, striping, and sweeping parking lots with his father-in-law, Chris “Red” Hargens. In 1982 Chris retired, and Steve and his wife Kathy took over the operation. In 1993, due to the company’s growth, Steve and Kathy built a home office and machine shed on the south side of Sioux Falls. They grew the company by offering the additional services of crack filling, patching, and paving. After spending many years working for the family business, Steven and Jeff Ballard purchased the company from their father in 2019. They built a new location southwest of Sioux Falls and are committed to carrying on the legacy of quality service and attention to detail that Ballard Asphalt has provided the Sioux Area for nearly 40 years.
